The Office for Nuclear Regulation has served a fire enforcement notice on Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) after shortfalls were identified at its Dungeness A site.
Fire safety deficiencies in the Fill House facility, a waste retrieval plant on the site, led to the issuing of the notice.
ONR enquiries identified shortfalls in the risk assessment, fire safety and firefighting arrangements, and fire detection arrangements in the building.
Tom Eagleton, ONR Superintending Inspector, said: "Fire safety is important in order to protect workers and the public, and we expect the necessary standards to be maintained at all times.
“This enforcement notice sets out the specific improvements that must be made by NRS to ensure adequate fire safety provisions are in place.
“We will continue to monitor NRS’ progress in addressing these issues in line with the relevant legislation."
The notice has been served under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
NRS have until 30 September 2025 to comply with the requirements of this notice.
