The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) can confirm that Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) has complied with the requirements of an improvement notice served in February 2024.
The enforcement action was taken after shortfalls were identified in the arrangements for storing alkali metals within the prototype fast reactor turbine hall and steam generator building at the Dounreay site in Caithness, Scotland.
ONR has reviewed the evidence provided by NRS and completed two inspections to view the site’s response, and we are satisfied that the required improvements have been made.
The improvement notice to NRS was issued under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, Sections 2(1) & 3(1); Nuclear Installations Act 1965 (NIA65), Nuclear Site Licence Condition 4(2); and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) Regulation 7(3) &(4)
